Frequently Asked Questions

Weeeellllcome to this section!

If you clicked on this, you might have been curious about me. So um, yeah, there's it - it's here!

Well, actually, some questions aren't that "frequently asked". Still, I'd like to include them here, because they can get you to know better about my stuff.

Questions regarding myself

> Did you learn coding of any sort before university?

I mean, obviously? If I can just create a website like this, it's quite evident I've had this sort of experience before. Well, where to start with?

Let's start with the primany school period, where I was mostly using graphic programming. You might have known about Scratch. I used those tools to simply create things, like mechanics simulator, weird games, stuff like that. ...A lot of which I now find cringeable.

I think I also have learnt some Python at that period. ...I'm not sure about it.

Then, here's my junior high school period. It was at that time I got interested in actually coding stuff of my own. I learnt Lua by myself and tried using it to do Friday Night Funkin' modifications. I actually liked some of my creations.

I remember actually publishing one of my works on Game Jolt. You should be able to find it in my Game Jolt account (@CreamStarlight). Its name is FNF: Project Phigros, or something similar. I can't quite remember though, I have a bit of... amnesia, you know. You should try it out nonetheless. (Granted, I'm not a great charter.)

Also, at that time I started getting Olympiad in Informatics experience. I learnt some C / C++, and used it to get through the first OI tournament in my life. It's called FOI. This isn't really quite big of a honor though, as... I was pretty "naive" back then. LOL

And gradually, I evolved.

While studying in senior high school, I got better with C++, and was able to win silver prizes at CSP-JStands for Certified Software Professional Junior and coppers at CSP-SDitto but Senior. At one point, I even got silver in CSP-S and successfully snatched a bronze in NOIPNational Olympiad in Informatics in Provinces. (I have no plans on bloating about it.)

Also, I remember making this website. I think it was somewhere between JHS and SHS, really I forgot, but this can tell enough I've made websites like this before. I wasn't quite experienced, sooooo... Pardon me please?

And above all, yeah, is the whole story before university. ...Whenever I look back, some of the things I've done still feel impressive.

* Please note that the "silver" and "bronze" prizes in the answer do not mean "second" and "third".
* Instead, they are given to people who passed a certain rank% in the tournament.
* Getting all the way to NOIP is already quite impressive for an amateur who also does a lot of other things.

> How does it feel to have overly high Sympathy stat?

First, let me declare that I do NOT really have high Sympathy stat. I'm just prone to help people.

...Anyway, it is, in general, a nice thing to have. You're more quickly to sense that something is off about people you care for (or just other people in general), which noticably helps when you think actions on it are necessary. You're more quickly to sense other's mood, which might help you with social things and/or chatting with another person (or just, in general, making friends).

However, in some circumstances it can also be tiring. More of it when you are put in a stressful situation.

Some people says that "pity is easier than sympathy". This does apply on the mental toll they take... And when a flurry of events come at you, you tend to feel exhausted faster. Sometimes some events will drain you mentally. If left not taken care of, those toll can escalate to a breakdown.

Trust me, you wouldn't want to experience this.

I once went TOTALLY, VIOLENTLY FERAL due to multiple stressful events happening in succession, and what happened afterwards I wished that it never happened. I got a bad score. The homework amount was ridiculous. I did all of them under the one pressure. After doing them, I thought of playing a bit to have rest, and then my mom witnessed it and yelled at me. The nightmare happened. In the end, my mom was very beaten up - might as well be sent to hospital. As for me? I couldn't sleep, and had a very bad nightmare the next night.

And, at times, high Sympathy also means you get emotionally hurt more easily. Which, if this happens frequently, please find some way of balancing this. Like, distracting yourself. Think of something better to do. Or maybe just punching a sandbag. Anything that relieves it works.

If you happen to be someone like me, then listen. When you feel like you're starting to stress out, TAKE SOME REST. PRESERVE YOURSELF. Don't let it get to you. And, please take care of yourself, because high sympathy isn't something common.

Questions regarding my creations

> Cream, why did you make this site?

I suppose I wanted some place of my own, and I thought of making a website.

And then I was inspired by some of my classmates, and kaboom - here it is.

Maybe my will of creating something great motivated me. I suppose.

> When did you start working on the site, then?

When I first got the idea of making the site on GitHub, it's actually when I saw one of my classmates' websites. It was quite amazing, and then I decided to make my own. And in one day I started getting my hands on it. Turned out quite well, to say at least.

In the process, I've encountered some trouble regarding replacing all the custom labels to one that is formally supported. Doing site-wide changes is really tiring, but not as exhausting now because 1. I don't have to submit a zip, 2. I can view how it goes from my editor directly, and 3. I know that my efforts eventually pay off.

By "pay off"... I just love how people visit my website and go "damn this is good", I guess.

> When did you start to draw?

It's been at least 8 years. Also, I'm almost completely self-taught.

I remember that I first drew due to how Undertale inspired me. And then, from there, my creations gradually shifted from just Undertale-esque and started getting to my own things, like OCs, sceneries, stuff.

At one point, I was so obsessed with Sonic and Friday Night Funkin I drew a lot of them. You can say that I'm quite... impuse-driven?

> Why do you like coding? And drawing?

As for coding, I can't really find much of an explanation. Maybe it's because I've been having partial English immersion since I was a kid - I often played flash games in English! And another thing: Creating something good feels great to me.

I don't really have an idea.

As for drawing? I think I've said before that Undertale inspired me. I at first used the form of comics, but then shifted to mostly standalones. I don't know how I actually got to like it though.

Maybe - a theory - that some fine art class I'd taken at kindergarten but have no recollections of, got me genuinely interested in art.

Questions in general

When did you first get a laptop?

When I started to use a laptop? Well, it's been YEARS! I was constantly using an Asus that my dad also uses sometimes for work. For light things, I usually do it on that laptop. For heavier things, though, I resort to PCs - which are not really mine as well.

And when I really got a laptop? That was 4 months ago. And it's SO DAMN ROBUST. I basically got very hyped over it.

Transferred all my personal data from the Asus to my... Oh, it's still an Asus. Hah!

Well... It's become my personal gaming computer slash workstation now.

(Well, the only issue I find with it is that its CPU fan can sometimes glitch out and run at full speed creating a lot of noise. I should get it fixed some time later.)
