Concept of Worlds
Well...
To start with, my definition of a "world" might be a bit weird.
The term "world" here, is the equivalent of a "multiverse" in my lore settings. (Yep, we're pulling the multiverse theory here. However, I went fuuuuuurther than that.)
Do you know about the universe? Yeah, the one universe we're in.
And yes, this is what I call, a universe, in my lore.
However, if you want to talk about a specific timeline, in my lore you'd be also be referencing to a universe.
Apparently, I go by the "one universe, one timeline" policy - there are many universes out there, and each is a possibility of how things may play out. All these possibility, inside a multiverse.
About the multiverse, you can say it is the equivalent of something like a "series", a "franchise", "a game world", or something similar.
For example, Genshin Impact. It's a game, and the world the game presents to you represents a universe. Its basis, the Teyvat world, with all its mechanics, apothic stuff, etc., represents a multiverse.
All Sonic games can be seen as their own universes too, with all of them taking place in the same multiverse, the Sonic multiverse - or sometimes we may call that, Mobius.
And then, the omniverse.
An omniverse's definition is much simpler. The relationship of an omniverse to a multiverse is like an author to their works. Due to this, I can approximately call the works I've written or where my creativity can reach as one group, the Creamy Omniverse. (Just so you know.)
Among universes, there might be connections. We call the connections "links".
Among multiverses, there also might be connections. We call these "crossovers".
And among omniverses, there allllso might be connections, in which case we might simply call them "inspirations".
Here's a cheatsheet.
- Omniverse (lots of worlds) = One's works and creativity, text or imagery, recorded or unrecorded.
- Multiverse (a world) = One of the works, which contains a lot of possibilities. Possibilities where things happen differently.
- Universe (a timeline) = A specific timeline or reality within a multiverse.
...and you know what I don't like about VSCode? Its AI keeps shouting things when it doesn't know about me and my worlds.
